Phew!‘Days of Our Lives’ has been renewed for a 56th season on NBC
False alert, everybody! Days of Our Lives will be coming back after all.
Although word surfaced last week that the actors could be out of work because no new deal has been reached for a 56th season, a Corday Productions executive advised the throw Thursday that the renewal is happening — just a couple I’s and t’s need to nevertheless be dotted and crossed. The DOOL actors will proceed on a yearlong break, which is apparently always the case, and production will resume in January.
An NBC spokesperson declined to comment.
DOOL is wrapping its 55th period this month. Although NBC has eight months of DOOL episodes in the can, fear recently set in that the actors might be from work for a while if NBC does not close a deal shortly with Sony Pictures Television, which distributes the show. So the worry over the celebrities was unfounded negotiations were already underway.
Still, it’s rather simple to assume the worst nowadays when it concerns the health of daytime dramas. Viewership isn’t what it used to be for sudsers, even though fans still love their DOOL, General Hospital, Young and the Restless, also Bold and the Beautiful.
Anyway, Corday Productions continues to build upon the DOOL brand. On Wednesday the company announced it is launching a new DOOL program series that will reunite nine figures from the 2000 year for new electronic series.
